Thanksgiving 2014

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope your day was filled with delicious food and fun times with friends and family. Usually, our house is packed full of relatives, but this year, it was just my family and my grandparents.
I ended up not signing up for the Thanksgiving half marathon, so on Thursday morning, I slept in and ran a relaxed 7 miles in the drizzly rain instead. Sometimes, sleep and rest is the way to go.7 mile garminAfter my run, I had a veggie omelet topped with salsa and pineapple on the side. Omelet and pineappleI had to save room for this deliciousness. Turkey, homemade mac and cheese, green beans, mashed potatoes, and sweet potato casserole.

IMG_1458Every year, we play a family kickball game and we take it pretty seriously. I had to inherit my competitiveness from somewhere, right? 😉  I loved it when I was little, thought it was the lamest thing ever in middle school, and now I love it again. But it was rainy and wet, and our cousins couldn’t make it this year, so we played board games instead.
Mexican Train DominosWe’re going to see Mockingjay tomorrow, so we also watched Catching Fire again to catch back up!
And we celebrated my grandpa’s birthday that always falls right around or on Thanksgiving with his favorite apple crisp for dessert.
Apple crispHe’s awesome! He just turned 78, and he’s still really in shape (he swims, bikes, or plays tennis every day!) He also has a major sweet tooth and I definitely inherited my love of ice cream from him. He introduced me to Ben & Jerry’s and Dairy Queen Blizzards when I was little, for which I’ll be eternally grateful. He reads the blog every day, too 🙂 IMG_1421
Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I’ll be avoiding the mall tomorrow at all costs and maybe doing some online shopping, but if you head out for Black Friday shopping, good luck 🙂

Hi, I’m Liv! I originally started blogging to share easy meals I made in my college dorm kitchen. Years later, as an attorney now, my goal is still to share delicious, approachable recipes with simple ingredients. You can most often find me running, eating ice cream, and making a mess in my kitchen. More...
