I got home for Thanksgiving break yesterday afternoon! It’s so fun to be home with my family and my grandparents are flying in this afternoon.
One of the best parts of being at home is the food, so I decided to do a What I Ate Wednesday post today.
Breakfast was my normal bowl of oatmeal at school after I ran in the morning.
Lunch was a honeycrisp apple and a homemade frozen burrito. These are SO good and 100x better than the storebought ones (although I like those, too.) After my last class ended, my sister and I drove home. I had a fun package waiting for me when I got home. Don’t you love getting boxes in the mail?! My grandma sent me a Thanksgiving present– a cute baking dish with my name on it.
I tried to pick my dog, Gracie, up when I got home, but as the world’s least cuddly fluffball, she wasn’t having it. I give up.
I made my favorite snack that I can only make at home– roasted cauliflower!
And my brother was making monster cookies (peanut butter, oatmeal, M&M, and chocolate chip cookies), so I may’ve stolen some cookie dough. For dinner, we had a side salad and pasta fagoli soup.
And I played the sliver game with a pan of delicious cornbread. You know, where you keep cutting off tiny slivers, and then you have to even out the line… it could go on forever.
And for dessert, while my sister and I watched the latest episode of the Mindy Project, a bowl of moose tracks ice cream. Eating at home is both good and bad. At school, I have a pretty normal eating routine, and I never have tons of extra food around, so it’s easy not to eat too much. If I know I can’t control myself around cookie dough, I just don’t buy it. When I go home, I’m not used to having SO MUCH delicious food around all the time. My family eats pretty healthy but definitely has treats, too, and it’s tempting to want to eat EVERYTHING (especially when I’m only home for a few days) and then be uncomfortably stuffed. It’s fun to enjoy all the special foods (ice cream! cookie dough! 100 “slivers” of cornbread) but I’m going to have to be careful if I don’t want to spend the break in a food coma (AKA way too full 😉 )
Questions:
What’s your favorite kind of cookie? White chocolate macadamia nut!
Do you play the “sliver game”? Yep. I learned it from my grandpa, and he’s coming today, so we’ll be able to drive everyone crazy doing it together 🙂
