The End of Junior Year + Summer Plans

And just like that, junior year is over. I actually wrapped up my final exams last week, but I stuck around for an extra week for RA responsibilities like helping people check out of the dorms. The time leading up to and during finals was pretty full, so this past week was a breath of fresh air. I still had RA responsibilities, but for the most part, campus was really quiet and I’ve spent a more laid-back week in Chapel Hill with friends who were still around.

I got to head home Tuesday afternoon, and now, my summer starts!

First up: my sister’s getting married in 10 days! I feel like she got engaged just yesterday but her May 28th wedding is already almost here. I can’t wait.

And then just two weeks later, I’ll take the LSAT on June 12. I’ve been studying for it throughout the whole school year, but it’ll be really helpful to be able to study for the next few weeks without other coursework or all of the distractions that come with living on a college campus.

And…the most exciting summer development that I haven’t filled you in about yet is an internship that I’m so excited about. I’ll be working at a nonprofit law firm in the area that specializes in human trafficking, family law, and immigration law. I’m pumped about it. The people who work there seem incredible, and I can’t wait to learn from them this summer.

This internship was also such an answer to prayer because it worked out perfectly with my summer schedule. They’re letting me work part-time before I take the LSAT, so I’ll be able to spend a lot of time studying, and then I’ll start working full-time after that. I can’t wait to start (my first day is today!), and maybe I’ll write a post or two about working life in the future? Since it’s in the area, I’ll be living at home for the first time during a college summer.

Other than the internship, I’m looking forward to spending some time with my family, celebrating my sister’s wedding, and hanging out with college friends who live around here.

I’m also going to Bald Head Island with my best friend’s family again this year. I went with her for the first time last year and it was one of the highlights of my summer!

So tell me…
What are you up to this summer? Any special trips or internships planned?

I love that you’re going to do a job for that firm. It is so good to see more and more people and organizations mobilized around fighting human trafficking.

Weddings are always such a fun wonderful memorable time, and it’s exciting that your sweet sister is getting married!!!! I hope you have a relaxing, refreshing, soul filling summer. <3

I hope your move-out went smoothly! Thankfully with it being my second year, I knew how to be a bit more efficient when it came to checking all my residents out. I have SO many questions about your RA experience, just because I’m curious about how it compares university-to-university. Your internship sounds absolutely fantastic. Seriously, I’d love to hear more about tit while you work during the summer!

I’d love to hear more about your RA experience, as well! If I remember correctly, you’re an RA for first-year students, right? I’ve been an RA for upperclassmen for the past two years and I think that’s made a big difference as far as a lot fewer incidents to handle šŸ˜‰ But I’ve heard being a first-year RA can be so rewarding since they “need” you more!

Your summer sounds like it’s going to be awesome–especially with the internship! Major congrats on that šŸ™‚ And your sister’s wedding came up fast! That’s so exciting that it’s next week already!

My summer is going to be kind of crazy. We’re currently taking a car load of things from MN out to our new apartment in California, then flying back for commencement, then going to a family reunion, then flying back out to Cali for Eric’s first day of work! And I’ve got some job-hunting to do, eek! šŸ˜›
