This past weekend, we celebrated my sister’s upcoming wedding with a bridal shower. Since I shared Marissa’s engagement story and then our bridesmaid dress shopping, it makes sense to tell you about the bridal shower, too, right?
I came home from UNC on Friday afternoon to spend a couple of days at home with Marissa since it’s the last time I’ll see her before her wedding weekend in May. She’s always been my best friend and I love getting to spend time with her, especially now that it’s a lot less frequent than it used to be.

While I’ve typically been more of a cardio girl, she’s motivated me to start strength training more consistently and it’s become a regular part of my workout routine this year. Saturday was the first time we strength-trained together and it was so fun. If she lived close, I’d love to make it a regular thing. And the woman who checked us in at the gym asked if we’re twins, which I always enjoy.

Bright & early Saturday morning
But back to the shower. A group of my mom’s friends hosted the shower and they did a great job.

The hostesses
The decor and food looked like something out of a magazine or a Pinterest board and I wanted to capture everything.

Whole Foods chocolate cake– the best
Everything was adorable and creative, right down to the heart-shaped sandwiches.

So tell me…
Have you been to many wedding or baby showers? Have you played any fun shower games?
Do you like hosting parties/showers? Do you have any hosting or decorating tips?

I LOVE wedding showers; it’s always so fun to hear the love story, and the food is always amazing. That game sounds hard; I don’t think I’ve heard of it before. The kids are always amazing at those kinds of games. 😀
I’ve only been to a handful of wedding showers but have a feeling I’ll be going to a lot more in the next couple of years 😉
I can’t believe the wedding is already coming up! Sounds like a fast engagement just like Brett and I had. What a sweet fun time and the shower sounded amazing…full of so much love and delicious food:) I’m happy for you guys!
Just a little over two months to go– hard to believe!
Ahh this is so cute!! I love weddings and all the things that come along with it (pretty sure I commented this before, but I seriously love weddings THAT much). What a beautiful party and a fun time!
Weddings are so much fun!
I’ve never been to a bridal shower before, but I love weddings! Such a fun and sweet time! You and your sister look so much alike 🙂
Thanks, Edye! I always take that as a huge compliment!
What a fun weekend! I have a combined engagement party and 21st birthday party as we only had a few months to get married (as we had to be married within 9 months for our visa but we ended up getting married in less than 6 months as we wanted a Spring wedding) but I would have loved a wedding shower! I think I’ll just have to make up for it with a baby shower one day, haha!
Oh, very interesting! Yep, you’ll just have to have a reallyyyy great baby shower to make up for it one day 🙂
I had a hard time getting onto your blog because of a long-running script, but I was so glad to be able to read about the shower.
the shower looks beautiful!
and i find it interesting to see how people grow up- i remember when i first started reading (basically when the blog started!) you & marissa did look like twins to me! haha. now i can tell you two apart 😉
Haha! Love that you’ve been reading for so long that you can tell us apart now! <3
Such a gorgeous wedding shower! Your family went all out for Marissa. I love the cake. That chocolate frosting looks delicious. I would totally fail at the ring game. I just ramble without thinking all the time. I love that the flower girl won! I’ve never heard about the bow legend, so I’m leaving your blog smarter. 😉
Haha! Glad my blog could be a little bit educational today 😉
